I ran over the chrono yesterday.

Blackhorn 209/ Fed 209 primer
185 gn .45 Hornady XTP/ Black Sabot
90 gns by volume (66.5gn by weight)
Avg speed- 1959.9
SD- 28.3
ES- 97.8

I’m really embarrassed to say that I thought the bullets were 230 gn. They were the bullets I ran years ago & I didn’t weigh until this morning.

Anyways, today I heading out w/ Hornady 250 gn SST’s.

I was hovering around 2-2.5 in groups at 50 yds with the 185’s but hopefully the 250’s act better.

I’m curious what are reasonable expectations for consistent accuracy & ethical range I can expect?

That will depend on your vision. 200 yds is max for me and would need time to aim with a solid rest.

150 is pretty "easy", but I won't call it a chip shot.

If you can hit a 1 gallon water jug at 175 with the first shot (fouled if you prefer) - you couldn't ask more than that.

So ends the story:
I’ll be honest I never got better than 5-6 in groups at 200 (limited by my own skill)

But I was confident with a solid rest out to 200.
and of course he showed at 203 yds.
