5 days wth BT3 and deboned meat (simulated)

I'll go ahead and answer PM's about this vid on the thread....

1) NO, I do not prefer this method and would choose to just take a bigger bag, BUT, if you are dong more day hunting than anything, than this will work great.

2) I have packed de boned meat with the Bikini frame (like in the vid) 3 times. I used a Kifaru Meat bag for transport and had no issue with meat pressing against my back. I did, however, take the time to push it before throwing it on my back.

3) YES, I would add an extra compression strap to each side, but I did pack out a deer this way (like in the vid) and had no problems.

4) The meat shelf does work better than the way I showed in the vid, but you work with what you have and the above method isn't bad.

5) The back pouch only had the sleepng bag in it, so we're talking 2.5 lbs total weight with back pouch.

Nice video. I like the way you adapated the sleeping bag straps to a make-shift meat self.

What size belt pouch do you have on the belt? It looks like a large.

Looks like it could be painful if the pack and meat bag were loaded. I like the idea of options, but much like you I think I would rather have the bigger bag and throw the meat inside. Speaking of which, mine is supposed to ship this week, cant wait, sheep season is right around the corner.

I am with the bigger bag option, but in competing with a few packs out there that have this option and almost seem to prefer a small bag and this method of meat carrying. It seem to work well. Those Bomb bags are bigger than I thought! Can you fit 2 stuffed bomb bags inside a highcamp 7k side by side?

Thanks for the video Aron! I have been looking at all the other videos and was thinking hard about the regular timberline 3. The videos really show the versatility of the Kifaru packs, and now I'm sold. I really appreciate the videos and explanation of what these packs can do. It has really helped in narrowing my search for a better system than I am currently using. Now that I see how much more versatile the packs are with the duplex/bikini frame. Being able to change out packs instead of investing in multiple packs is nice. Also they compress down super nice for day hunts which is what I've been looking for. Not sure yet about which frame to go with.

Does the bikini frame allow more airflow between the back and pack than the duplex frame?

So this would be a good option for a day hunter or someone that day hunts and maybe throws in a 3-5 day trip every once in awhile?

I was one of the ones who asked Aron about it. My dilemma is I bought a Dt3 for mainly scouting. I was going to get a dt1 bag to accompany it for actual hunting trips. Due to current finances a dt1 bag isn't going to be doable for me in time for hunting season this year. I am very minimal and can fit 5 days of gear in my dt3.
My problem was once I get something down I was worried my only option was two trips.... this video helped me out.

Thanks for the vid! It was very informative and even relevant to what I inquired about in the HC/BOMB bag thread. Being able to watch a vid is so much easier to grasp the concepts behind the equipment...

I do plan on using the meatshelf between the HC4800 and Bikini when day hunting from spike camp on a multiple day trip. Since the 4800 will be only loaded with daypack gear, it will basically be used as cargo panel when cinched down over top of a BOMB Bag thats sittin' on the meat shelf.
Also, I did order a Kifaru Meat Baggie and will be seam sealing it, so the option is still open for sliding a BOMB bag/Meat Baggie full of meat inside the 4800 without making a mess of things. Figure I could take the hydration bladder and hang it outside the bag, so its out of the way completely from being compressed too much? Or just lay the bladder across the top of the meat load?

Looking forward to that trial & error phase of our elk hunt!!! The modularity of Kifaru's frame, bags, and accessories is really a wonderful thing to have at one's disposal. Thanks again for the video...
