Amazing elk. So happy for all involved. I don't know any of them but have met and talked to Ryan Carter on many occasions. Class act all the way and dedicated to Elk hunting!

Wow that’s a giant! I’m thinking I would struggle to keep myself together with something like that standing in front of me

Above 400" score pricing for antler scoring becomes highly exponential, not linear. He actually got a deal.

JL

Word is he paid $240K for the AZ gov tag. Good for him he can afford it. Not very good value compared to your normal $6K hunt. The bull should score 15407 instead of 470........haha

Amazing bull. Love seeing auction tags used well...and in moderation. They are a great tool for conservation when used in moderation....or in other words, not like Utah.

Congrats to the happy hunter!

Great bull and congrats to the hunter and outfitters involved, I am sure it was a blast and good to see such a large chunk of $ going to conservation.

Also great to see all of the supportive comments, Honestly I was expecting a bunch of negative comments because it was a Gov tag or because it wasn't a DIY back pack hunt 15 miles into the wilderness. Good to see hunters supporting other hunters!

There was another one damn near as big with this one when he shot it. Video is already out. Y kids were watching it the other night.

Guy that shot it was pretty humble, gave all the credit to the guides.

Wow. Saw the video on YouTube. Looks like they had quite the team put together to take down that monster.

Poor bull didn't stand much of a chance with that small army hunting him.

I will still eat at Jimmy John's but I suspect his marketing folks would be happier if Jimmy had kept some of this closer to the chest.

Jimmy might learn from Michael Jordan's quote from a few years ago, "Republicans buy sneakers too".

If you want to see how this kind of thing goes down and get sick to your stomach about these type of tags. Theres hard working local guy from AZ that was on this bull and has years of scouting on him, look up ROGUEOUTDOORSMAN on youtube and he has a video and back story on this whole deal.
Good for the tag holder on his attitude and getting out there any way he can but the whole thing just gave me a stomach ache. Not my cup of tea. I feel sick for the rogue guys and family and friends who could have hunted this bull.

Lol, wow. Thats a bit absurd if all of those people were spotting and helping, especially if they're allowed to communicate via radio/phone.

Just watched the video. Amazing bull, and pretty impressive 1000 yd shot. With that said, I don’t think I’d have the nerve to hang the mount in my house. Regardless of the money spent for the gov’s tag, there is no way I could ever feel like I earned it. Just my opinion.

After watching the video you almost feel bad for the bull ! Really, over 1000 yards away, at what point is this considered borderline not ethical. Between not having to do any leg work all the way up to just being the guy pulling the trigger. Every year I see hunting turning into more of a rich mans sport(not just elk hunting)and it kinda saddens me. To all the DIYers putting in the blood ,sweat ,and tears to still harvest an elk ,bull or cow, Congratulations! Or even if you don't harvest but still get out after em and enjoy the time in the field, Congratulations!
