Can anyone explain where all the 410 ammo is going? I know we’re in the middle of an unprecedented shortage, but you can still come across 12 and 20 gauge target loads and such.....not the case with 410. Of all the rounds to be scarce, this one puzzles me.

They weren't the easiest to source before the shortage, and were expensive for what they are. Never understood how .410s could be more than 12s

I finally after a year of looking found some I paid over $80 for 4 boxes of 6 shot. We live in the craziest of times. Boat load of money just to take my kids squirrel/rabbit hunting

Was in Wal Marks yesterday and checked out of curiosity.
There were 4 boxes of 28 ga. 7.5 shot.
That was IT.
Never seen the shelves that empty.

As far as .410, I ordered some .444 brass and 11 lbs of shot a while back
in anticipation of this pile of warm horse poop we've stepped in.
Also a set of 000 Buck molds.

I remember, it was 2015, 2007.... Then, ammo was magically available again. Then...2017 a SW at was $399. When you pay the dumb high price, you are part of the ammo shortage problem... A raindrop doesn't blame itself for the flood.
Any 410 ammo I've ever seen has had dust on the box and cost almost $20 for trap loads, hence why mine is a safe queen. It was relatively expensive to begin with.

It’s crazy. I grew up hunting anything that moved with a single shot 410. I’ve got a sweet little over and under thst I often forget about in the safe. With big game seasons over, there’s times I’d like to go pretend to chase a rabbit or something, but I’m honestly scared to shoot what little I have left. I learned my lesson on all the grown up shit and even 22’s, but never thought I’d see 410’s gone to this extent.

Do you understand that there is really "no" ammo available/

When people buy supplies of anything in a panic or hoarding mode, even things they don't need get bought.

I still have multiple boxes of 410 (shot, slugs, buckshot, 20 ga., 12ga., 2-3/4", 3", etc.) from the Obama purge.

Buy what you can, barter town will open soon ...

Only thing I found on the shelf here in PHX AZ yesterday was a single box of 28 gauge shotgun shells.

In my area, it's the opposite. Our field & stream has shelves full of .410 and 28 but no 12 or 20.
Everyone around here is looking for 12ga.

Unfortunately, my son's favorite shotgun is an O/U 410. We cycle that one in sparingly among 12s and 20s when shooting trap here.

Bought a lot of 410 trap loads from MidwayUSA several years back, all gone; down to 3" #4 and #6 now but thats reserved for hunting.

Lol.
I guess .410 is popular out by you guys. Folks around here tend to gravitate to a 12ga for target & hunting. And some 20ga shooters.

Part of the issue is that the ammo manufacturers are focusing all of their resources right now on the "popular" calibers that have the highest demand (9mm, 223, 12 gauge, etc). When you have limited resources (primers, powder), if 10,000 people want 12 gauge and 1,000 want 410 guess which is going to be manufactured first. It's supply and demand and until the supply catches up with the demand on the ammo that they have the most demand for, it's going to be slim pickings on the rest.

Whenever I've considered taking my 410 out, ammo prices have me getting the 12ga instead. The prices were pretty ridiculous pre panic, $12-18 a box for skeet, yikes.
