That was my go-to setup too Ed, just a little smaller tent - Cabela's XPG Expedition 4-man for sleeping, Go-Lite Shangri-La 5 (5 man) for cook tent and gear. Worked well for 2 hunters.

My sleep tent is a 4 man. The tipi is great to kick back in bad weather. Ed F

Long before kifaru was born i had a pyramid type tent for gear and cooking, that was used with a dome.

it worked so well i frequently carry one today.

I have done a week in an SO Cimarron with one other guy, it is fine. Obviously there can be significant individual variation.

Rent the 6 man. Bring the Tipi and stove. Weight is not an issue, so then you will have options, including a cook tent if weather sucks.

4 man tipi is great solo and cramped with 2.
8 man is great size for 2 people.
