Curious what you guys/gals are doing for nock orientation with a 4 fletched arrow? I recently ordered 6 factory fletched arrows from gold tip; 3 of them were in such a way that it was a “X” when on the string and the other 3 were a “+” on the string.

Not sure if they did this on purpose to see what flew better in my setup, or just dumb luck it happened this way. I have read arguments for both setups, I will shoot both to see what I like best but am curious what works for you and also the reasoning behind it.

For broad heads I’m going back and forth between 100gr iron will and rage trypan as I’m starting to have trust again in mechanicals

I shoot four fletch almost solely because I don’t like worrying about a cock vane. So mine are in the 90 degree configuration.

I have some in both and honestly dont shoot good enough to see a difference with broadheads. Maybe a shooting machine would reveal the change but I think I'd just do 90s the next time around

Pros and cons to each configuration:

The 90* orientation (+) allows you to have four nock positions for nock tuning your arrows, but you almost have to shoot a drop away or you will have contact with your rest.

The 105*/75* orientation (X) allows you to have better vane clearance for non drop away arrow rests, but only gives you two positions for nock tuning your arrows.

I don't think there is any accuracy related difference between the two orientations when it comes down to just the orientation only part.
