~$3500 scope, made in Texas. What am I missing?

I guided a hunter last fall that showed up with one of their $13k rifle packages and two sets of their binos.

Nice guy, but he was like a paid spokesman telling me several times a day that his optics were the best on the market and they were designed by an eye doctor. He insisted that I continually compare the binos to my el range. Every time I told him I preferred the swaros due to clarity, light gathering, etc, he said I didn't know what I was talking bout lol.

I think he was really trying to justify how much money he dropped on the entire line up and rifle lol

I spoke with these guys at DSC. I liked their FFP reticle, and they insisted their stuff is as durable as NF. I really pushed them to contact Rokslide and submit one for testing, to which they expressed some interest.

Overall, I didn’t see anything that sold me on $2K, much less $3.5K, but it would still be cool to see if it’s actually good gear.

Some people perceive quality based on how much something costs.
The more it costs, the better it must be.

Kudos to this optometrist. He found a market and is selling product to customers willing to pay a premium.

There are a lot of optical engineers ("properly" trained plus an "appropriate" background) that design garbage scopes that work for optics companies pushing that same garbage on the masses. Why does the optometrist deserve this ridicule yet these engineers and owners of these companies get a pass from the RS masses?

It is crazy to think that if the founder of NF started it today, folks here would be ridiculing him, his company, and his products because his background is in oral health. Ironically the same ridiculing masses here are on their knees with mouths wide open when it comes to NF...

Have you spent much time reading opinions of Leupold and Vortex? No one can honestly think optics companies get a free pass. Even NF gets criticism for bad reticles and poor design features by many.

The issue is not whatever they guy does, the issue is him claiming his back ground makes him better at something largely unrelated.
