I am curious to know if anyone here is handloading for this cartridge. Specifically looking for a light deer load with a little less recoil. I am working up loads with Hornady 200 grain round nose with IMR 4320, 3031 and 4895. The rifle is a Remington 700 if that helps you guys out.

Hope someone steps in to share their info. Sorry I am no help. I am just starting into reloading. I would like to work up a bear load with 250 grains bullets for this cartridge.

Elkdreamer, I would look at about any upper tier 250 grain bullet and Win 748 powder around that 54 grains mark. Info on this comes from North61 on the YT.
The IMR 4320 is where I would go with the 250's but this is because I have a bunch of that powder on hand. I like the idea of the partitions but I haven't been able to get the 225s to shoot that well so I hesitate on going heavier.
What rifle are you shooting and what kind of bears and terrain?

It is a nostalgia thing for me. Goes way back to around 1977. I was about 10 yrs old and my dad always carried the Rem 600 in 350 rem mag for elk hunting the brush.

I`m not into hunting elk in that brush but figure it would be a great bear gun for those conditions. My only black bear was shot at about 10 yrds. I just think it would be cool to honor him and my memories of us hunting.

I am a sap that way. Have been wanting to do it for ten years now. Finally getting off my ass and learning how to reload.

Some folks use 180 gr XTP .357 mag bullets, or .358 Hornady 200 gr flex tip bullets to lighten it up.

I know the 180 XTP handgun bullet has been used in a 35 Rem with good results - you just want the velocity below 1800 fps - that'll give you a light recoil too.

The 200 gr flex tip will give you a lighter payload so the recoil will be less.

Pay attention to the velocities necessary to expand the bullets. Most jacketed bullets seem to be 1,800 fps and up. The flex tip may be less, the 180 357 xtp is 800-1600 range.

Enjoy - nice rifle!

My custom 350 rem mag absolutely loves to 225 grain Barnes with TAC
I have thought of the Barnes and the Nosler Accubonds, However, the overall length restrictions from the rifles I have keep me from going down this path. I have loaded the Barnes in other calibers and just haven't found a load that shoots well enough to justify switching to them over some of the traditional bullets.
What is your custom set-up? What C.O.A.L. are you able to load to?

Always a good thing to bring the past to life and to honor those who have got us to where we are. The 600 is a fun little gun but one has to really know how to and want to shoot it with the heavier 350 Loads.
I wish you well in your adventure and reloading endeavor.

Here are my 350 Remington Mag loads for a Remington 600 in an ultra light Brown Precision Stock. I shoot the rifle regularly and recoil is not bad. These aren't light deer loads, but are do everything loads for deer, elk and bears in a light weight carbine.

Please confirm load data with your reloading manual.
Load 1 - 225 Barnes TSX, 50 grains Reloader 7, Federal 215 primer.
Load 2 -250 grain Hornady SP, 54 grains H4895, Federal 215 primer.

I have heard good things about Tac powder. Good luck

Nice weapon!!! Thank you.

So, just for the record I ended up going with 50 Grains of IMR 3031 seated to 2.69 COL. I don't have a chrono but these should be running about 2450 fps out of the 22" barrel. Accuracy is not bug hole but decent 1'' at 100 yards. Light on the shoulder and should be good for deer.
