.35 wehlan for hunting

Another big fan of the .35 Whelen. Mine is a rebarreled Tikka T3X.

Ruger (Lipsey's Exclusive) released a very nice Alaskan Bush Rifle in 35 Whelen and 9.3x62. I put myself on the waitlist for one at my LGS. Then I remembered I don't hunt moose or grizzly (yet).
35 Whelen is used here in LA by some for primitive hunting season, bore restriction of .35 or larger.

That’s what actually started my 35 Whelen build, I became to impatient waiting for a Ruger lol

Quite popular here in the south for deer "alternative weapon" season, smacking the snot out of hogs, and as a follow up rifle for tracking black bears after they get shot at bait sites.
I have one on my short list of project rifles if I can find the right donor rifle to start with.

A good buddy in NC has a rebarreled K98 Mauser in 35 W and loves it. He keeps trying to talk me into a 35 W barrel for my Encore...
