hello,

my old deuter is getting in bad shape and i was wondering if any of you had technical and experiences feedback for a climbing/ hiking backpack that will work in 4 seasons environnement.

thank you for the help and recommendations.

What kind of climbing and hiking? Like, “climbing vertical stuff with a pack on”? Cragging?

a little less than vertical but not a bulky bag with side pouches ... cragging? yes i looked up the meaning and it is in between i will say but no anymore hardcore lol

I’ve used CCW’s Valdez and Chernobyl for climbing/mountaineering for many years. Really great packs and Randy, the owner, as mentioned above, is the real deal, and very helpful as well.

What do you mean by 4-seasons? When I hear that, i think a really big pack to hold bulkier gear (think puffy, snow shovel, extra gas, warmer layers, thicker sleeping pad, winter tent, etc).

it is exactly that aside of the tent but that is including crampons, ice axes. puffy and warmer layers. a 35 to 45 so far has always worked for me. i do not need gas so far as i do not bellay in winter where we are. i can sleep in really bad conditions in lower altitude and i wont bet on that on alaskan coast, bc or southern rockies.
