I had a 338 RUM built last year and I have been struggling to get a load together that will work. I have tried Barnes 265 LRX with 4831SC no real luck there and Nosler 265 ABLR with both N570 and H1000 with no real consistency. I really want this gun for Bear and Moose hunting so I am looking for a heavy bullet preferably a bonded bullet but I am willing to look at options.

I’d try with with a standard bullet next, 210 or 225 TTSX. Try the 7828ssc with it, maybe try those same weights with Nosler partitions or ABs as well. Start with the low end of the load data. You’ll have plenty of speed and the 338 probably doesn’t have a bullet weight that doesn’t work for bear or moose. I’d also be curious if there is a factory load that your new build likes.

250 gr. Sierra will kill most of what can be hunted on the planet. Relatively inexpensive and easy to tune bullets.

Not totally apples to apples, but my 340 Wby had similar issues with Nosler bullets (for some reason). A switch to the 225 TSX unlocked sub-moa accuracy and blazing speeds. I have also come to see the 4831's might actually be too fast for the big boys. They work, but you don't get all you paid for with speed. 7828 has been my default with H1000 a close second.

Maybe give that new Ramshot Grand or Staball HD a look?

Not a hunting bullet, but I'm shooting LR with a 300 Nosler custom comp with 90gr H1000 at 2875.

Has anyone had any luck with 250 Accubonds? Its seems like alot of people like 7828 I might have to give that a try.

92.3gr N570, 300 Berger elite hunter, jumping 35k, 2810mv, shoot very small if you can drive the rig. Lots of recoil. This rifle was chambered with more freebore than saami, coal is around 3.95, running a wyatts cfe9 4" mag box.

I’ve been running N565 with 250 Bergers. Had great luck killing anything that I point it at. I believe the N565 was designed for the Lapua shooting 250 grainers. Not positive but think.

I am currently trying a Accubond 250 N565 load we will see where this one goes I am hopeful.

I am shooting 270 ELD-X out of my rum. ADG brass, WLRM with 95 grains of Ramshot magnum. Averaging 2840 out of the muzzle. Base to ogive measurement of 2.835”.

I had outstanding results with the 225 ETip in my 338-06. I'm having a 33 Nosler built right now, and I intend to test that projectile with it, since I have a few hundred of them. But, the 220 Hammer Hunter Tipped shot so amazingly well in my 338 Federal, I'm hoping that will also shoot in the 33 Nosler. We'll see, there are so many great projectiles in 338.

What kind of velocity are you seeing? I’m wanting to try the 300 match kings or the 300 A tips if I can figure out the seating stem
2630 FPS with 86 grains of powder. It’s not close to pressure either. It shot a real tight group with this load. The higher powder charges were not as tight and this was good for me.
