Hello,

In between cleaning up here for guests at Christmas I thought I would send this note to a serious 338 caliber shooter. We are building a long barreled 338 Win mag and since I have a lot of old T shirs I wish to use my wifes' rotary cutter to create exact bore cleaning patches for this rifle. I do not have patches for this bore size and can't seem to locate their dimensions on the Internet. If someone has created exact size patches for their 338 bore I would appreciate finding out that exact size. The barrel is not here so I could experiment.
Thank you in advance

9mm cleaning patches are usually 1.5” in diameter, or there about. So should be a 1.5” square patch or so.

Of course thickness of material, thread count of material, jag size, ect… all come into play.

Or you can just cut something that works and go with that.

I found a link that suggests 1.75 to 2 for a 338. That may be better if your T-shirts are thin or your jags long.

Quite variable. I use Parker-Hale style jags and can use many different sizes depending on how you lay the patch on it or overlap two of them. 1.5 -1.75 seems about right to me though.

White bounty paper towels. Take 1.5” slices off the roll with a granton edge slicer. Learned this from an old gunsmith and benchrest shooter. I haven’t used anything else for 30 years.
