Hello all.
I am rejoining the metallic reloading world after some time off.
300WSM and 7-08.
Years ago I bought IMR4831 and H414 because they were listed in the Nosler manual as serving both of those cartridges and still have a fair amount of those powders to use.
I have Barnes 180gr TSX (not the tipped bullet, HP) and cannot find any current 300WSM load data for that bullet and powder combination.
I'm not looking for alternate powders right now, just want to use up what I have.
CCI magnum primers.
Thanks.

looking at hodgdon and barnes load data, it looks like the powder charges for IMR 4350 and IMR 4831 are pretty darn similar for 300 wsm. Also, the 180 gr scirroco data for IMR 4350, and the 180 barnes data for IMR 4350 look very, very similar. the 180 scirocco has data for IMR 4831 too.

plugging your info into GRT could also give you some confidence that you're in safe waters, or you can call Barnes.

as always, start low, work up, etc.

So I did call Barnes and they looked up historical data showing IMR4831 62.0 to 66.0 grains.
Also recommend that bullet be seated deeper than others due to the ogive shape. 2.81 vs 2.86.
Really helpful people there.
I'll give it a try.

I'm shooting a 300 WSM with 180 gr TTSX bullets and H4350 (65.0 gr) and they're doing everything I'll need them to do in the field.

I am sure you can go down the rabbit hole chasing accuracy, but if killing things out to 400 yards is the goal, the above has been my recipe thus far

If I'm buying new bullets and powder, that or the 165/168gr version will probably be what I would buy.

I'm gonna be lurking here, so please let us know how it turns out. Just ordered up some 168 grain TTSX bullets to try but was planning on using RL17 as powder.

copy. Pretty sure anything in the lower 48 that you wanna shoot with the 165/168s will not like the medicine they're receiving. Good luck!
