I mainly shoot 6.5 cm and am adding a 223. But I also have a pair of model 70s in 300 and 338WM in the safe that have been sitting without an optic for a decade or more. I also have an extra SWFA 3-9 that needs a home so I think one of them is going to get some glass.

In theory the 300 might be more practical though I cant imagine needing more than my 6.5 for any actual hunting anyway. Its a black shadow walmart special from the early 2000s and the barrel is a 26 which I dont love.

The 330 feels less practical but its an xtr from the 80s so much nicer, has a decent wood stock and nice pad, and a shorter barrel which I like.

Both are good shooters as I recall and actually have similar felt recoil.

Which one gets the glass?

The 300, unless you have ammo for the 338, I also have both, love the 338, I reload as well, lately finding 338 on the shelves is proving difficult lately.

I'm a 338 win homer, so that is my vote of course.

Ammo is a struggle now. Doesn't sound like you'll be burning through bricks of it. 300 win is certainly more practical. Better trajectory, ammo availability, less recoil.

338 win mag is far far cooler.
