Hello ! Looking for loading data for a 300 wsm (Blaser R8 25 1/2" barrel) using Horndy 178 ELD X and preferably with H4350 or Vihtavuori N160/550. Just a starting point would be useful... Also interested in N . Accubond 180/165gr. Thank. Boris.

I ripped 180gr Accubonds in my 24" CA Ridgeline. I couldn't get the ELDX to pattern. My most accurate load was with Hybrid 100V, I shot a Muley with RL17 last fall. I ended up trying to dial in a load with H4831SC right before selling the rifle to pursue a custom build. Any questions please let me know.

180gr AB
2.835 COAL
63gr H100V (2950 fps avg)
Fed 215 or Fed Match primers
Win Brass

Thanks ! To my regret, there is only VV N160/N550 and 1 pound H4359 , maybe N165...

300short - my favorite caliber to load in my Sako 85. I haven’t loaded the 178ELDX but this is from Hornady manual.

2.840 COAL
63.4gr H4350 Max

Wise to decrease 7-10% and work up for pressure, accuracy nodes and velocity nodes.

Thank you, guys ! I am glad to communicate with you and thanks for your help !

My 300WSM load with 180 AB's is also H4350 at 2950FPS. I can not remember the powder charge, but that varies anyway in every barrel. If I remember correctly, I am getting consistently under .5 MOA with that combination. H4831SC and 190gr Matchkings do better for me for a target load.

190 grain Hunting VLD berger, 62grains of H4350 2775fps- 2825fps
With my particular rifle 63.5 gr is about max and pattern starts to open up. Serves no benefit IMO to run near max pressures. In my experience, as you SLOWLY work up load, that pattern will shrink and then open as you go from cold to hot loads. Some barrels like colder/slower. Some in middle. Some max load listed in book +1-2grain.

300WSM in long action that machined with berger fully extended. Could not run this in SA. Pacific tool and die matched a cartridge we sent them.

Rifle has way better capabilities than I do. Honest 1/2"moa

Another quirk is. with IMR 4350 POI shift from hot weather to cold weather. If I remember correctly 2" high 2" to right from hot sight in to cold weather shot.

Still groups, but seems to just be POI shift.

H4350 seems to be more consistent across temp ranges.

This is just my experience.

62 grains of H4350 with 180 gr Nosler accubonds or ballistic tips for me.
Had no luck with the 165 gr. Couldn’t get them to group.

My gun likes this load too. Do you know what velocity you're getting? I don't have a chrono to verify. What barrel length is your rifle?

Unfortunately no chrono for me either.

barrel is 23” (Browning x-bolt western hunter, prev model)

I run the 178 gn eldx over 63.2 gn of RL17 seated to mag length 2.900. This load makes nearly 3,100 fps out of a Sako 75, 11 twist.
