For you all running a 300 WSM what is your bullet of choice?
I see from the Powder thread that a lot are running H1000 or H4350 for the powder.
But was curious what bullet and bullet weight you prefer?
I thought I had read somewhere that the 300 WSM was designed for a 150-180gr bullet to be the best weight, but that could be wrong.
Was wondering what you all like for it.

I have been playing with the 190 gr Speer Impacts. Shoots very well so far but no on animal experience yet.

The issue with going to bullets over 180 is that they take up case volume so you have less powder. You can go to a bigger bullet but then your performance will be limited.

180s work just fine!

If you go with the 178 ELD-X I have some for sale.

I am pretty much only shooting my 6.5 for now.

In SAAMI form yes, but using a medium or long action with a long throated chamber where you can seat heavies out farther it’s pretty impressive.

H4350 for 165-180 gr bullets. I use 178gr eldx or 180 nosler accubonds
H4831sc is also good for 180-200gr bullets but will be slower than H4350 with 180's
H100V is also good for 180-200gr.
I've also used superformance with 178gr ELDX which gave me 100fps more than H4350. but 64-64.5gr of H4350 and 180's seem to be magic in all the 300wsm ive loaded for.

Just shot a few this morning to re-zero after a new optic, 162 Absolute Hammer at 3150fps.

H1000 is generally a little slow on the burn rate spectrum for 300 WSM.

If limited to 2.9", ive used 200 ELDx over h4831 a fair bit and thats a good combo. 180 BTs/Accubonds, 185 bergers are nice with h4350. If a guy can load longer i'd look at 195/208/212 ELDs and 200-20x bergers.

I imagine N555 would be a good powder as well.

How would the 208 A-MAX work in the 300WSM? I still have 200 of them I got for 308 project that never left the ground.

I’ve had good luck with a number of bullets in 300 wsm. The sweet spot for my needs has been 165-180 mostly. Right now I reload 178 gn eldx in one and just use Norma bondstrike 180s in the other because to shoot so dang well.
