Hey guys, I acquired a new MPR in 300 win today. I have never reloaded for 300 win yet and was curious what your guys's picks in powder would be. I have retumbo, H4831 and H4350. I can get some H1000, but currently do not have any on hand. I am thinking either a 200 gr or 180 gr bullet. Can't decide between the ELD-X and the Accubond. First order of business for this rifle will be moose, so I was leaning toward the Accubond. Really just looking for a starting point to save as much time as possible on load development.
Thanks

Accubonds are great. Eld m is way better Bullet than the eld x. Bought a some interbonds to try out.

My .300 likes imr 4350 which is similar to h4350 and 180gr Barnes ttsx. I’m going to try hammer 180s when I get some time. I’ve heard good things about retumbo and I have a buddy who swears by h1000 so it’d be worth trying if what you have doesn’t do it. In my opinion I’d start with whatever compatible powder you have the most of and hope it works so you don’t have to scrap for more, bullets seem to be a little more available but whatever saves you from going through all of your primers!

I have not found any as temp stable as H1000 if you are gonna be out in variable conditions, also the most accurate powder I have tried in mine. 190 or above gets H1000, below that H4350 does a pretty good job.

I shoot both the 200 grain accubond and ELDX out of my 300 win with H4831sc, running 2850fps. Both are very accurate. Of theses two bullets, Accubond would be my choice for moose. ELDX are killers but I’ve had jacket separations in elk that make me concerned about encountering moose bone.

H1000 and the 180 TSX have been very accurate in my 300 WM. H1000 is in their temp stable line and gives me confidence living in a warmer climate and hunting in the Western US (Utah, Colorado, NM). My load data didn't change between different lot numbers after running out of powder. Velocity has been decent and averages 3045 from a 24" barrel. Quick clean kills on my last 2 hunts with this rifle/load (large bull elk and a mature mule deer).

H4831SC was a close second during load development.

I've been through 3 300wins this year. All shot the 200.20x well with h1k or h4831. Velocity is higher with 26, but we were looking for repeatable, sustainable solutions.

Not sure of your chamber dimensions, but I don't think you can stuff enough h1k in one to hurt a saami chamber. H4831 seems to get into the 3k range around 73ish grs.

IMR 7828 has worked well for me with 150, 165, 180 and 200 gr bullets. Would be a good pick up if available when looking for powder.

I used the data for the Nosler 180 Accubond. H1000 is their most accurate load. I am slightly higher than their most accurate load at 79.0 gr, but it was definitely an "Easy button" load.

All those powders will work well. If you are going to run 200's though, I would lean toward your retumbo. H1000 is incredible powder as well, but you can get more velocity with retumbo.

I run RL23 in mine, but thinking about switching over to H4350 for hammer bullets.
