I’m shooting sierra 200 grain gamekings with 76 grains of h1000 and cci 250 primers. Today was the first time I have ever used a chronograph and was consistently getting readings around 3070. According to the Sierra book that load should put me around 2850. So I decided to put that info into my strelok app and picked out a rock 923 yards away and hit it every time. Has anyone else gotten this kind of velocity with a load like this?

200g ELD-X w/ 76g H1000= 2836 (24” barrel)

Yeah, 3000+ seems pretty fast for that charge....looking through my records, it takes more than 76g of H1000 for me to get +3000 with a 180g BT. ???

I dunno, but I LOVE 200 grainers in my Win Mag.
I've never embraced the light bullet hype.

I double checked and they are 200s. It was sprinkling when I was shooting. Would that effect the readings? I was also shooting prone with the chronograph on the ground. I forgot my tripod. It just seems high to me but it worked out with the strelok app.

If you verified it with drop, it should be accurate.
I shoot the 215s at 2950 in my factory 300 win mag and a 24” barrel, with 76 grains of H1000. Its a slightly compressed load. I could believe your getting 3070 if you have a 26” or 28” barrel.

It’s a savage 111 stock 24” barrel with a defensive edge muzzle break. I have no signs of pressure and it shoots less than 1 moa. I guess I’ll just keep shooting them.

Out of curiosity, what elevation are you shooting at? I agree that those numbers are high... but if they're consistent numbers, its accurate, and not over-pressured, you have a great load.

That’s a bit fast, in my savage, Remington and tikka that’d have been a 2900fps give or take

How Do you assess “pressure”

what chronograph are you using

what was BC value you used?

I look for extractor marks on the head, hard bolt lift and flattened primers. Used a Caldwell chrono. I used the .560 from Sierra for shooting over 2600fps.

Stewart, if you ever find yourself up by CDA and want to verify your chrono kick me a message. We can test it against a magneto and a traditional prochrono. However if you verified your results at LR with a multiple shot string, then I would just go with your velocity as long as ES and SD aren't beyond your comfort level.

My results with H1000 were slower than I would like, much like everyone above. Currently that rifle is getting rebarreled with a +P throat so that I can play with Viht and the heavy bergers.
