Not the same cartridge, but my .338-378 shoots like garbage with both Retumbo and H1000, which to most are some of the best powders there are. Reloader 22 and h4831 have been very good to me

Until recently, I’ve only shoot 200ABs from my 26” barreled 10 twist 300rum. It shoots ridiculously good. For some reason I can’t leave well enough alone, so I picked up a couple boxes of 230gr otm tacticals. I found accuracy without pressure at 3095fps average with 91.5gr of N570 and low single digit SD/ES. I am at 4000ft altitude, though. You should look into this combo. The 230s have been popping up recently and N570 was available for a couple weeks not long ago, so there should be some around to trade/buy for.

Getting ready for my first Elk hunt in 2 weeks (CO 2nd Season OTC Unit). I put a new stock on the 300 RUM, a Manners PH. And, I bought a dedicated scope for the RUM instead of moving scopes around onto it constantly. Mounted a Bushnell LRHS 2 to it.

Sighted it in Wednesday this week, and got an an acceptable 1 MOA group. I'd like better, but I think this is the best I am getting from this big a rifle and factory ammo.

Using the 180gr Norma Bondstrike ammo. Chrono'd this ammo at over 3300 FPS using my Garmin Chrono.

Now to bag an Elk....

Were you ever able to try some 200 ABs? That was the first thing I started loading in mine about 10 years ago. I have a couple boxes of new brass and some 225's but I know it likely won't shoot better than the AB's so I haven't even tried them.

Never have been able to find enough 200 AB's to load, so I just stopped looking fro them.

I bought 500 rounds of the Norma Bondstrike ammo, and it seems to shoot that decently well basically 1 MOA.

I took it out to 500 yards today and everything was dead nuts, so I feel as ready for my next hunt in 2 weeks as I'm going to be.

I'm comfortable shooting to 700 if the conditions are perfect. In any type of variable or tough conditions I'll keep my shots under 500 yards.
