I generally use the 225 ELDM in mine but went with the 190CX, I wanted a deep penetrating bullet for the Moose or a Grizz in self defense. I knew I wouldn't be shooting long distances so I wasn't worried about the BC or expansion. Bullets performed great, absolutely no complaints.
It did take about ten rounds for the CX to start grouping out of my barrel, I have heard there's some voodoo
going from a mono to a solid and in my experience it's valid.

Contrary to rokslide wisdom most moose are probably tipped over with a 180 grain soft point of roughly .308 diameter, usually a factory offering from the big 3. Until the 90s Dominion and Imperial(Canadian made ammo)may have had an edge and 200ish grain offerings were second. At the end of the day shot placement is most important. However, I am a fan of partitions for moose. Cartridge doesn't matter. They just go together, like peanut butter and chocolate. I'll leave a little accuracy on the table in favor of higher chance of an exit for moose.
Your guide probably favors the idea of 2 leaking holes and shots as close as possible.

If your concerned with crossing the border with reloads, put them in a factory ammo box.
