300 Blackout Deer Hunters

There was a guy making expanding subs by the name of Blackout Bullets. I don’t think he’s around anymore but maybe. They work well. I have a 16” Bergara barrel on a TC Encore. It’s as close to Hollywood quiet as I’ve been around as long as I keep them slow enough not to pop. I don’t have a high dollar suppressor, just a Harvester 30.

Thanks, it’s been a fun rig for sure. I only ended up shooting one doe whitetail with a subsonic and it performed great.

For the most part, it feeds pretty welll from the MDT mag. The Maker subsonics are pretty blunt so sometimes they hang up if you work the bolt too slow.

Just weighed it - with Ckyepod, it’s 12 lbs. 10.5 without Ckyepod.

A friend got an AR15 with a 300 Blackout and will use it for deer. There was a time "Da 30-06" was the standard in Wisconsin. Then everyone went bigger , into the 300 mags for deer. Now it is in full reverse . Smaller and smaller deer rounds are the rage . It will work fine for S.E. Wis . marsh grass hunting, but his "good for 400 yds. "claim is a bit much . As for me, I never thought I would leave the .270 Win. at home and take the .243 WIn. , and now even looking into the .223 Rem.
