$300-$400 backcountry pack?

I have a DD external ( Terraframe frame) and there are a lot of ways to use a load shelf on those. A Kifaru cargo panel can work, or could rig the grab it on there. Can even use a WPS Handi-pak on there with a little modification.

The Frame is easy to strap different things on it. For packing meat- even a few horizontal straps and two vertical ( with maybe some cordura in between to stop slippage) and you are good to go. Plus you can just use the bags that come with them and slide everything in the bag and strap er down.

Maybe this will generate a couple idea's... this is the Wilderness Pack Specialties "Handi-Pak" meat harness. Easily modified to adapt to other packs equally well. I think it's only like $15 too. Weighs a couple oz's and it stays on the pack at all times underneath the bag. Gives you the option to haul qtrs w/o the bag. Pretty much an UL load panel.

Mike, make sure you can detach the bag. There's a lot of variation on the dana's from what I've seen. My T1 terrframe the bag detaches completely but some are attached to the frame either at the top or the bag and hipbelt are one piece. This is true for all models of the external dana's depending on year and where it was made. My terraframe standard, big bag, the bag and hipbelt are sewn together. Seems K2 tried to do some cost saving mods along the way. If it does detach try to find a hpg compression kit or a dana design beaver tail. La stly you may not need a shelf as the longbed should have an L shaped frame and a few straps at the bottom would work.

Is this guy a Rokslide member?
Hey all, had a buddy call me last night asking about packs in this range for him for backpack hunting. He's about 6'3" and 220 lbs and is a very in shape guy for that weight. He's not going to be able to spend a ton of money and $400 is definitely his upper range. I was thinking about an Oregon Packworks or something similar for him? What do you guys recommend?

Mike

Not sure if he still needs one but currently there is a Longhunter with cargo chair and gun barrier on eBay for $350 buy it now.

Nevermind they changed the buy it now to $500 it was originally $350
