I like the thunderbeast cans.
You should be done with it because in the end, it probably dosent matter which one you choose. You aren’t going to be able to tell if one is louder or quieter unless you compare the extreme ends of what’s available.I am so DONE with this, lol. I have spent untold hours studying!
I was initial looking at K sized suppressors in my search. I was also looking at high flow suppressors. Here's why I stopped. A K can does not work as well with a short barrel. Also, high flow cans do not suppress sound as well. My rifles do not see rapid fire. Therefore I chose to go with a can that exhibits better sound suppression at the expense of more back pressure.Everyone is talking about high backpressure suppressors and OP indicated it's for 7.5" and 16" ARs.
I'm semi suppressed AR ignorant but for your uses id get a lower backpressure can. Id take a hard look at the CAT DD. The ODB you have listed is longer and heavier and will be over 10 ounces with a hub adapter.

I am glad you brought this up though. It's a discussion i would like more feedback on.
Agreed. Just picked up my Noah for use on a 6arc and 556. Couldn't help it and picked up a WB this afternoon. My approval took 24 hrs. Hoping the next is as fast.Honestly there’s not a bad CAT can - you just need to pair the right one for the right platform. There are cans that flow better for less gas’s to the face, and there are ones that prioritize noise reduction. I own the SR, WB, and JL and had messed with a few others. They are constantly evolving their lineup which throws some people off - but it’s because they are updating their platforms rather than ride out the same design for years (AAC/dead air etc).
If it was just a hunting gun- the Jolene s is a great balance between weight and hunting noise reduction. The CAT JL is THE quietest suppressor I’ve ever used on a bolt gun, but a little long for what I personally want. But for ARs I’d look at CAT DD/ODB and some of their new items coming up
I dont have the dirty dave or ODB, but i do have 4 of their other cans. So far the CAT cans are actually surprisingly quiet even tho they're flow-through, even the smaller ones like the WB. I think the dirty dave would be great for your use caseI was initial looking at K sized suppressors in my search. I was also looking at high flow suppressors. Here's why I stopped. I think they come with the different threaded mounts because most ar15 barrels are 1/2x28 and ar10's are typically 5/8x24. Their cans are optimized for specific cartridges or guns it seems, but they still do well on other cartridges too for me so far. You can easily swap the mount, especially with the HUB versions of their cans. WB is specifically designed for 556 and the noah is designed for the 6arc. I would say the noah would be a better choice for you if you have multiple cartridges to use it for, unless you wanted a dedicated 22cal centerfire can. The noah is quite a bit bigger/heavier but not heavy enough for me to not consider using it on a hunt. If you have 30 cals maybe the ODB/DD would be better for ya.What about the Noah vs WB? I only have one ar 11.5” and the rest are bolt guns. I’m waiting on the Noah now but curious about the WB for next time. Ive noticed your comments on the WB but the Noah is what was in stock this week. Currently in my area if you have a itch for something and it’s available you better jump on it. Could just be my area or my stores but that’s the way its been for a couple of months now. Also curious why the WB comes with 1/2x28 and Noah is 5/8x24? That just causes me to have to get a 1/2 plate which I’m used to by now. Just seemed funny since most 556/6mm cans come with 1/2. The thread comment was more just a thought not as much of a question. That would be a question for the manufacture. Thanks.
To me thunderbeast is just like Nightforce scopes. They just plain work!If you look at sound summit data the nomad, dd, and Jolene all score high. I know a lot of people love TBAC. I would love to have one being from Wyoming. But their data in similar cans is very middle of the road. So for a data driven decision DD or nomad would be the clear winner. It’s hard to find scythe data. But their recent weld failures push me away.
Thank you. Ive not been around a ar10 and didn’t realize they’re 5/8 threaded. Makes sense. Like I said I’m used to swapping the 5/8 mount to 1/2 anyway just extra expense. I did order the 1/2 from ocl at a good price and it shows to arrive Saturday. Going forward ill try to use more 5/8 threads on barres. Ill look at their 30cal offerings but I have 6 at the moment and I mostly shoot 22/6mm stuff. That’s what got me to pull the trigger on the polonium and Noah this go round. When they get turned loose ill see where I like them best. Once they find a place I normally leave them there unless I just get curious about something. Hope that helps, CAT customer service is pretty good and responsive these days so you could always ask them. They told me they are going to release 1 or 2 new redesigned 556 cans later this year and will be phasing out the WB, curious to see what they come up with. I've been really impressed with the ones I have(JL, MOB, WB & NOAH). Those first 2 are pretty dang heavy but they're incredibly quiet and run smooth across multiple hosts
I'd not heard about DD cans failing. Was it on magnum rifles? The can I purchase will only be on either a .308 AR or 300 BLK AR.To me thunderbeast is just like Nightforce scopes. They just plain work!
I’ve heard of multiple DD cans exploding and failures. I haven’t heard of TBAC cans failing. Also I think TBAC are very precise and good for precision rifles
This I pulled off of FB. There was another pic on a different post showing the other half. No baffle strike could be seen. 243 shooting 70 grain I believe.
“Okay guys update time.
so just to recap last night I had a shot that was off on a coyote. I hit it but the shot was off. The coyote ran into 80 yards and I missed again and then 70 yards and I missed again. I decided to go home and take another shot to see if my 0 was off and the suppressor exploded.
I emailed diligent defense at midnight. Within 15 minutes, they responded to me and made sure I was OK. This morning they requested a phone call and they were extremely apologetic. They said the only thing they can think is that there was a materials issue.
They told me that they were going to replace the suppressor for free and pay for the new tax stamp because I couldn’t find the serial number portion of my can. They also told me to pick out another suppressor that I wanted and they were going to send it for free and pay for the tax stamp. This was hands down the best customer service I have ever experienced. Extremely kinda and their first question was If I was okay.
I 10000% recommend diligent defense.”
