I reload and my Tikka T3x Superlite .30 06 likes the 150 grain SSTs the best over some Accurate 4064. I get 3000 FPS so I’m still 1800 FPS out to 600 yards with the .410 BC 150 grain SST.

Anyone hunting whitetail with 150 grainers out of the 30 06?

Heck I started this thread but I’ve already loaded some 130 grain Barnes TTSX in my 06. 3225 FPS at the muzzle from a 22” barrel Tikka T3x! SMOKING and will kill deer like lightning out to 400. Beyond that it loses energy quick.

I was shooting Sierra 150 prohunters w h4350 and staball at around 3100. Never hunted w them though

Ive just completed deer season 53. Most of those have been done with an 06 and 150 grain bullets. Mostly Noslers, first partitions and then Ballistic Tips. 52.5 grains 4064. Not too many white tails. Mostly mule deer and Blacktail.

Plain vanilla .30-06 loads.... 50.0gr of H4895 under a Hornady 150gr SPFB bullet at 3.210” OAL. Muzzle velocity is 2900fps or so.
This is pretty much the standard 30-06 load for the last 100 years or so and has dropped a mountain of meat on the ground.

Barnes TTSX 150 gr, H4350, 210M primers, RP brass, 2920 fps is my deer load. Shoots just slightly better than 165 gr. Accubond using IMR4350, but both shoot very well.

Speed is not everything.

I've been using the 150gr Hornady American Whitetail and the Remington Core Lokts exclusively out of my
.30-06 for the last 6 years or so. They've both been great!

For whitetail, that should be a DRT setup. SST's are - IMO - the best whitetail bullet ever made. Every deer I've shot with them never took a step.
