3 pin slider

What’s every one shooting for multiple pin sliders and why? I always shot a 5 pin fixed and just picked up a bow that came with a singe pin slider and like the concept but I want at least a 3 pin so I don’t have to fumble with adjustment on most shots but have the flexibility to adjust for longer shots (50 +). I like the idea of 3 pin so as to not crowd the fov like my old 5 pins

I also want to know. Im just now sighting in my bow with the new sight and my 20 and 30 are really close and so it doesnt seem like im getting the most use of the sight. I do however worry about forgetting in the heat of the moment if i set the pins at odd yardages.

I just switched from a single vertical pin slider after shooting one for about 20-25 years. It's all a tradeoff. You won't ever get a better sight picture then a single pin sight. However, the reason I switched is exactly for those ranges where I don't have time to adjust. All else being equal, I shoot a single pin better. The stick bow has taught me the benefits of speed in getting the arrow sent off. Seconds can matter greatly in hunting, so multi pin slider is great for that.

I'm shooting the Montana Black Gold Pro sight.

I went from a fixed 5 to sliding 3 this year. Only time will tell but I like it a lot and expect it to be great for whitetail. I typically only get shot opportunities out to 40 but if I get the chance Id like to be able to dial further. Great for extended range practice too. I got the MTB pro as well

I have two 3 pin sliders and have some opinions on the pros and cons of each. But first, I like the three pins because it is les cluttered and I can set it to shoot out to 50 yards without having to dial, but then I can dial in if I want to. I use the bottom pin as the floater.

I have a Axcel accutouch pro and the BG Pure gold 75. Both have good view of tape and bright pins, accept a light if you want, and are quality builds. They both do custom orders for guys like me who are colorblind.

For the Axcel I like the slide mechanism which has more range than the BG, dials easier, and I like the speed locks I also like the micro adjust for the individual pins. Pins are sharp and clear but not as durable as the BG. I also like being able to adjust the horizontal without tools and how the little bar locks in the knob. What I don’t like about this sight is the pin durability, the sight ring on the scope being inside the scope and not having an ability to gang adjust the pins/scope vertically. I also don’t like the dovetail and knob. It pushes my tire spot quiver put away from the bow a bit and I had to grind on the quiver bracket to get it like I wanted it. I really appreciate the fact Axcel/truball gives a very generous military discount.

The BG has the micro adjust features I like so you can move all the pins/scope vertically without moving the slider or playing with the tape. I like the bright site ring and durability of the pins. I like the fact it has very little play in the mechanism. What I don’t like is the slider knob and its location. The horizontal adjustment bar gets in the way from getting a good grip and it’s tension takes a bit of pressure to turn. I don’t like the way 3rd axis is adjusted but once it is set up no big deal.

Overall they are both great sites and I am probably being a little picky. Hope this helps you. Good luck.

Thanks for your detailed response. I should have added that I just picked up a tight spot quiver and it’s not ideally compatible with my hha optimizer slider. I had to put the dovetail on upside down to allow enough clearance for the slider knob which leaves the quiver pretty far off the bow.
