3 or 5 Round AICS Mag for a Hunting Rifle

Do you prefer to carry a 3 or 5 round magazine in the field?

Depends on the stock and application. 3 rd plastic MDT mags for example are recessed slightly below flush in a bravo which is preferable to protruding for hand carrying and whitetail blind/stand hunting but not quick changing as the light mags don’t typically drop without some pushing from the top for me. Kind of nice on light rifles in bravos though too because the balance point is typically under the mag.

M hunting, I run a 5er.

I typically run a 3 round in the rifle and then i keep a 5 rounder in my pack as long as im not being super weight conscious.

I'm leaning on a 3 rounder and attaching a two round quiver on the side. I have a folding ammo wallet I can keep extras in my pack.

Only time I have dumped 3 rounds was at a coyote.

Usually a 3 round mag for hunting big game. If I’m going after coyotes, I’ll have the 5 round in place.
