There are only so many shelters a man can own, and this guy has more than he needs. Time to thin out the gear closet.
Here are 3 floorless shelters for sale. The minimal amount of stakes to set them up are included with all of them, poles are not. I use trekking poles with the Tricer Tipi adapter to merge 2 poles into one for the taller shelters.
Images are in order based on the listing. 3 per. If you want more images, click below on a Google photos folder along with a videos for each shelter.
Hit me up with any questions. Prices listed are TYD with PayPal F&F or Venmo payments accepted.
1. MOUNTAIN LAUREL DESIGNS - Duomid XL
Price is $155
This shelter is a rather spacious 2P floorless shelter that is seam sealed (on the outside by the MLD team), ultralight, and is a well thought out design. There are 3 stake out points on the long side (in addition to the corners) and the set up can be either the middle one or the two outside ones depending on how much ventilationuou want. A vent at the top of the zipper, 6 optional guy lines.
It comes with 8 stakes which is the minimum set up, and another 6 would be optional for guy lines and wall stake out points.
I run this shelter with my trekking poles connected together with the Tricer Tipi adapter but the shelter comes with a small piece of aluminum tubing that can do the trick, something that MLD provided.
Weight: 1 lb 9 oz
Dimensions: 5' wide x 8.5" long
Peak height: 5"
2. VIAM OUTDOORS - Madison Tipi 4 Person
Price is $185
This tipi I have used a handful of times. It had a guy line pull out and the guys at VIAM sewed a new one for me. It isn't seam sealed like normal, but the guys at VIAM did some sort of seam sealing on the outside which you can see as a white film on the seams.
Viam Outdoors sells a carbon pole but you could use the Tricer Tipi adapter with 2 trekking poles which is what I did to save weight and bulk.
It comes with 8 brand new stakes, and another 8 would be ideal to max out all 8 guylines.
Weight: 1 lb, 14.5 oz
Dimensions: 9' x 9'
Peak height: 6'
Zipper opening is 2 way zip.
Stove jack hole
4 person would be a little packed. 2 people plus all the gear is more like it.
3. VIAM OUTDOORS - mini version of the Kifaru Sawtooth?
Price is $150
Viam doesn't make this shelter any longer, perhaps because Kifaru got after them cause this shelter IMO is a mini Sawtooth. Seriously reminds me of the Sawtooth, but a little longer and not as tall.
I personally seam sealed this and left it outside to dry in my back yard. 2 cycles of the sprinklers and it was bone dry inside.
Dual door entrance, stove jack port can be removed to ventilate the shelter. Even with a stove, 2 guys and more gesr than they can carry will do well in this shelter.
It comes with 11 brand new stakes, and could use 4 more for the guy lines.
Dimensions: 14' x 6' wide at the doors.
Peak height: 5'
Weight: 1 lb, 13 oz.
I used a pole for a tarp that I had and a trekking pole in the short end of the shelter.
