3 easy objectives for better dog photos

When taking retriever photos with my cell phone, I aim for 3 easy objectives:

1. Place the phone slightly below the dog
2. Capture the landscape we are hunting in
3. Capture the "catch light" in the dogs eyes

This photo was from our hun hunt yesterday morning.

Great tips. I struggle getting good photos of my black lab. Catching the light is a great tip.

Great tip on changing the photo angle.

I would add:

Keep a small tripod in the truck. Paired with a Bluetooth remote, you can frame up post hunt pictures of you and the dog or game so much better. Cheap little tripod, shooting sticks, optics tripod, they all make a world of difference. This was from a solo hunt with just me and the dog:
