I’m looking for some opinions on three blade broadheads.

I don’t want to debate mechanical vs fixed. I’m only interested in three blade fixed broadheads, and more specifically solid three blades. The brands I’m interested in hearing opinions about are the VPA, Kayuga, cutthroat, Terra firma gladius, ozcut, annihilator or any that I may have missed. I’m aware that some of those listed are ~1” current diameter.

What I’m trying to do is maximize cutting area without sacrificing too much penetration…. I’m shooting 70lbs with a 29.5” draw so I don’t think energy is an issue.

I’m just looking for some options aside from “this sucks” “this is great”

Thanks

You can't move one without moving the other.... If you increase cut, you reduce pen and vv.
I prefer penetration. I've shot a bull elk frontal with a 7/8" two blade killer bee. He made it 140yds running straight downhill.
But to answer your question, I like the Exodus for a 3-blade. It has a low profile, so less wind effect. It's not vented, so it's quiet. If Exodus made a two blade that cut 1" and had same low profile, I'd buy it. I'm shooting IW for fixed now.
My first bull I shot with Exodus, two shots through the vitals, both pass-throughs. He made it maybe ~50yds
Same draw/weight as you.

I totally get that and I’m sort of trying to thread the needle…. But with my bow specs I think I have a little wiggle room to get a little more cut area without sacrificing the penetration.

I always forget about the Exodus, but I’ll have to try it since it does seem to check most of my boxes

I got away from them one year 'cause I wasn't getting good groups. I think it was mainly my tune, but that year the killer bees were shooting great for me, so I switched and have been set on two blades since.

Just make sure if you go Exodus, and get the " barbed" that they're legal for the states you hunt

I’ll be sure to check those out. Thank you for the reminder

I like both the Kayuga Trizot and Terra Firma Gladius. The Trizot blades seem sharper but if you are sold on Gladius, the sharpening system they sell makes it easy to get a good edge. I haven't shot anything with the Gladius but the Trizot performed very well on the bull I killed. Both seem to fly the same but the Trizot is a bit quieter.

I’ve tried many broadheads and none of the solid 3 blades fly as well as smaller fixed blades. Now if you only care to shoot 20 yards not a problem but living in the wide open west I prefer accuracy and forgiveness much farther.

The exodus swept is a great choice. The grim reaper micro hades as well

I’m a double bevel guy myself, but I’ve gotten 3 blades to fly.

Besides tuning, you just have to build the arrow out right and have vanes that are going to handle the steering correctly.
