Looking for good options,
I’ve tried Hornady and nosler 280ai brass, both are so so,
Are there options out there that I just can’t find on line?
Has anyone tried lapua fire forming?
Open to any good brass options.

Keep an eye on ADG. I've seen lots of interest from people for them to make it. They have responded to shooter requests in other cartridges. mtmuley

I have a couple 280 AI's i like the Nos. brass, accuracy is good. A little better is Norma 280 Rem. fire formed. For the Lapua you are talking their 30-06, it is shorter so everyone i have heard using it has their rifle chambered for that brass

What issues are you having that make you want another brand?

Jeremy

I have found both nosler and Hornady to be on the soft side. And somewhat inconsistent.
Maybe some bad batches.
Just looking for options

I don't have an AI, but use Nosler in my 280 along with a few other calibers. I can't imagine any of their brass being sub par. It has all been good to me.

Out of the two I’ve used (nosler and Hornady) the nosler primer pockets get loose. I’ve loaded both with re26, Winchester primers, 175 g eldx at 2950 FPS.
Nosler just dose not hold up.

I used to fire form my own 280 ai but since nosler came out with 280ai Brass it’s all I use never had a single issue. Still have some of my original nosler brass in rotation.

I've had good service from RWS and Winchester in my 30-06 AI. I push that rifle pretty hard and haven't had loose primers, or poor case life from either. Not a direct comparison, but a couple of options if you don't mind necking down. The RWS is much nicer brass than the Winchester. More consistent.

If I recall, Nosler brass is made by Norma. Don't take that as gospel, but that is what I have been told by those who should know.

Primer pockets get loose when you run hot loads, some brass brands hold up better than others but at the end of the day if you're over pressure they'll get loose regardless of "good" brass. You didn't say your barrel length but 2950fps for a 175gr pill in a 280AI is probably a rather toasty load. So you either accept short brass life of back off loads.

I have used Nosler brass in a 300wsm, and loaded hot. I have around 10 firings through that brass. Maybe you just got a bad batch, but I've been really impressed with the Nosler brass. I also believe it is made by Norma. My first choice is always Lapua, second is Norma, then Nosler. Its all usually good stuff. Your options are limited with the AI.

Agreed. 2950 with a 175 is pretty hot.

I checked my data, I was a little high. 2894 - 2898 through 4 shots. I am assuming these are pretty accurate as I only have a chronograph that is about 9 years old.
This was with my old 280ai that had a 24” barrel.
I am getting things ready for my new 280ai with a 26” 1-8 twist.
I should have that in a couple weeks. Just looking at options to start fresh.
ARC nucleus action,
Proof research 26” carbon

agree 2950 is way hot. I have used Nosler brass for years in MY 280 AI Zero issues period...

My 280AI loves Nosler brass. I don't push it hard either though. I load accurate rounds, not hot ones.

I've taken to using Hornady for the 280 AI, no deficiencies that I can see …. I've had good luck and a "little" bad luck with Nosler brass over the course of time but when I compared load next to load with Nosler, Lapua, Hornady in my 30.06 AI I saw absolutely no difference in brass life or accuracy
