280 AI Load Data Help

I've got a chance to add a 280AI to the safe and was looking for a little help/input on load data.

Rile is a Xbolt 2 and I am looking to shoot 165 TGK or 162 ELD-M bullets. Not overly interested in anything lighter than 150 grain bullets. I will be running Peterson brass.

Looking for powder suggestions. I've got H4831sc, H4350, n550, n555, n560, n565 but can look into other powders if necessary.

If you've got any experience please let me know what bullet and powder combos you've had luck with.

I have had good luck with with N560 with Accubond 160 as well has H1000 and 162 ELDX and 175 ELDX

I shot N560 in mine my 280AI Xbolt. With 175gr Elite Hunter bullets. Did ok went to H4831sc and Berger 175gr Elite Hunter. Shot some of the best groups. I am working on M 162gr. But with RL19 powder. The 162gr X and RL19 shot good groups out of mine.

My experience would tell you don't neglect trying 7828 and get a 7mm remington magnum instead.

Of what you listed, H4831sc and N560 are what I use the most. I definitely have pressure increases with n560 during summer if the load was worked up during winter. But I generally only shoot this rifle oct-dec anyway. H4831 gets me really good accuracy but not the speed of n560.

But here's the thing, I've quit trying to hotrod my 280ai so I'm a lot less concerned about how fast it is now. It still kills just fine and the speeds I'm getting are plenty fine

59gr of H4831sc and a 160 partition was the combo in my old one. That's max load right out of the nosler load info. I think I was running them 15 off but obviously your gun will vary.

H4831sc is a good powder for those bullets. Should get 2900 fps without issue. 7828ssc is another favorite. That's what I use for 168lrx and 180eldm

Not trying to hotrod this one. But I’d like to get decent speed. With a 160 class bullet I’d like to get 2850 fps.

Sounds like 4831sc will likely get me there.

You've got some good options. H4831sc and N555 should offer nice consistent performance. N560 should be the velocity champ.
