Tighter bore on that Brux cause it maybe?

Idk possible, I have the next barrel off assembly line that was right behind it, 25cm, it shoots fine normal speeds. I just think the prc case is anemic.

I'm kicking around getting a 25 PRC prefit to play with and was curious if anyone had experience with an 18" barrel and velocities produced. I assume the answer is yes, but any thoughts as to whether 2,850 or so with a 134 eldm or 133 elite hunter is a reasonable expectation? I have N565 and RL23 on hand but could be convinced to pick up some N570 if there was some overwhelming reason to do so.

2850 should be very doable I'd think. I pressured out around 3150 with 135s with a 23in barrel. So take 150 off that and that's probably gonna be top end with N565/H1000 burn rate. Rl23 will be about 30-50fps less.

2900fps is about top end load that will reliably function in snow/wet conditions in my 20" prc with n565/h1000.

I think most would agree that "25 PRC" is referring to a 6.5 PRC parent case necked down to 25 cal, and a 25-7 PRC would probably be an easily identifiable outlier if someone listed specs. I could understand some confusion if not though.

I did my pressure ladder in a snow storm on purpose, anything 3k fps and over nearly required a cheater pipe to open the bolt. 2900fps mv with these sexy long bullets keeps me above 2000fps a long ways out.

Maybe I'm looking at it wrong but since the bore diameter is 0.007" smaller than a 6.5, I'd make a rough assumption that 133-135 in a 25 PRC is going to end up pretty close to a 140 class in a 6.5 PRC at same pressures/powders. Maybe a hair faster?

At which point the BC of the 135 in 25 PRC and 140 in the 6.5PRC are about the same, recoil would be about the same, fps about the same. what’s the point of a 25PRC..?

I think that’s a valid point. My interest is more about driving a lighter bullet faster. I would like a modern non-belted 257Bee, maybe the 25-7PRC is there, I haven’t compared the case capacity yet. Shooting lightweight Hammers at blistering speed would be fun. Just for shits. Like the 67gr hammer at 4k fps to blow up a javelina… I would just like to see what it would do.

25prc 134 vs 6.5prc 140eldm

.25prc 134eldm
-About 1ftlb less recoil
- higher sectional density for a bit more penetration

6.5prc 140eldm
-factory ammo available
-many more bullet options

My 25prc 134g has noticeably less recoil than the 6.5/147g, rifles are built nearly identical.

Differences are small for sure.
