I recently traded my dad my Howa .270 for a .257 weatherby Vanguard. I've always wanted a fast .25 cal, didn't need it but thought it would be a fun backpacking deer and antelope rifle. It should arrive next week.
I've narrowed by bullets choices down to either the Barnes 100grn TTSX or the nosler 110grn AB, depending on which one I can get to shoot the best (reloads).
My question for you guys is we all know the caliber is super flat shooting. If it were YOU putting a scope on this gun what would you do? I've got a Zeiss Z600 3-9x40 at home on a .243 that I could swap over...BUT for the stadia lines to work properly I'd have to throttle back the loads to no more than 3200fps. OR would you get a different scope and if so what power range and why?
Also you guys with vanguard experience -- does the factory stock need to have any sanding done in the barrel channel?
Tks
