I have been patiently waiting since last May for Seekins Precision to add the .25 Creedmoor to their list of caliber options. Now that the SHOT show is behind us, they now list it as available.

What has me concerned is that they have chosen a twist rate of 1-8" instead of the 1-7.5" rate that everyone else seems to be using. Heck, some even use 1-7". Am I worrying about nothing, or is this something I should seriously think about before plopping down possibly $3K on a rifle?

I may use 128-grain ELDX's to start with, but may very well have a friend help me handload something totally different. Nothing is set in stone.

What are your desires for the rifle? SAAMI specification for the twist is 7.5. I wouldn't want to spend Seekins money on a gun that wasn't twisted to or faster than SAAMI specification.

That's my thinking as well! I'm just disappointed after patiently waiting all this time, and sort of hoping that I'm just worrying about trivial stuff. My intended use will be whitetail hunting at sub-500 yards (but realistically 200 or less), and occasional recreational shooting at 500-1000 yards.

not sure why they’d go 1:8. Saami is 1:7.5, mine is 1:7. If you’re wanting to shoot the heavies out of it then you’d need the faster twist rates. If your only wanting to shoot lighter faster bullets them a 1:8 should work.

Look on the Berger stability twist rate chart and see what you come up with for your elevation , bullet ect .
Says SG=1.35 for the 128-grain ELD-X at 45 degrees at my elevation of 700 feet. 1.50 is supposed to be the minimum for stable flight. A 7.5" twist would bring it up to 1.53.

I wouldn’t get a 25 Creedmoor in a 1-8 twist. It precludes using all the heavies, which is kinda the point with this cartridge. I have messed with quite a few rifles this winter with lower stability factors in the 1.3 to 1.4 range, and when it gets cold you can really see it. Groups might be fantastic at 100 yards, but as distance increases the groups open up, it’s harder to get the ballistic profiles to true up, and wind calls are more unpredictable. Shows a definite loss of BC. I had to rework a couple rifles that were stable in the warm months, but absolutely went to crap in the cold weather.

I wouldn’t get a 25 with less than a 7.5 twist personality.

There is a *slight* chance that maybe it's a misprint on their website, since there are something like four calibers in a row with the same twist. Hopefully I get the scoop Monday. Otherwise, I may just be getting a Horizon instead. Lol!

I saw today where Savage released a .25 Creedmoor and word on the street is that Ruger is too. My .260 Rem Ruger American shoots lights out, but I'm really wanting something "nicer", for lack of a better word. I have an S&B Polar incoming for whichever rifle I end up with. In fact, the scope was supposed to be delivered today, but ended up on the wrong truck at the sorting facility, and is now in a city up north. So, today has been nothing but bad news. Lol!

I picked up one of the Proof Elevation MTR’s last fall. It shoots incredibly well, and has quickly become one of my absolutely favorite rifles. I killed a deer in South Dakota with it, and a couple pigs here in Texas. I live close to Gravestone Precision range, and shoot there weekly. I’ve stretched it out to 1,000, and I’ve been nothing short of super impressed with this cartridge. You’re going to love it when you get one.

What twist rate? I've always been a fan of the .25-06, and only went to the. 260 Rem due to it being a short action. The .25 Creedmoor will bring me back to the quarterbores, with the benefit of being short action.

Edit: I just reviewed the MTR specs and it's 1-7.5". Good deal! I wasn't familiar with that rifle, so it's another one to consider. Lol!

Edit #2: I just saw online where a local gunshop that my nephew manages supposedly has the ELEVATION MTR 25CR TFDE 22" in stock. Funny that he knows I'm looking for a rifle and never mentioned that one.

I have the same quarter bore love also stemming from the 25-06. It was the first big rifle i ever shot enough to burn the barrel up. Loved that rifle. So I’ve also come full circle with the 25 Creed!

The Elevations are impressive rifles. Mine is a 20”, and it will group 10 shots pretty close to a 1/2”. Sometimes a bit more, but incredibly accurate.
