An older Sako in 25-06 is one of my favorite rifles that I have a ton of confidence with though it has the slower 1:10 twist and I use 100 gr TTSX keeping shots under 400 yards with great results. Looking at putting together a 25 PRC or 25-284 and with how similar the 6.5 PRC and 6.5-284 cases are I have fully reached analysis paralysis the last few weeks. Either option would be built on a Tikka action. Barrel will be twisted and chambered to take advantage of the newer 25 cal bullets. I’m curious to hear from anyone with experience with one or both of these cartridges.

No experience with 25-284 but I've got an 18", 7.5 twist 25/6.5 PRC on a Lone Peak action, prefit from PBB. I just finished some new load development and I'm getting 2,930 fps with a 128 eldx and N565. Recoil is there but not bad at all with a suppressor. Killed a bull elk and an antelope with it last season shooting the 134 eldm no problem. At my typical hunting elevations of 5,000-7,000' that keeps me over 1,800 fps considerably further than I'd ever entertain shooting an animal.

No experience with either of them but I'd think brass would favor the PRC moving forward.
This is pretty much what drove my decision to go PRC too. Even Lapua 6.5/284 brass seems tough to track down anymore, and PRC is available from every good brass maker.

I’m ahooting 134s at about 2950 from a 1-7.5” PBB. As mentioned, recoil is semi snappy without a can but I can usually spot hits from 600-800, and it’s a pussycat with the can.

Retumbo, H1000, N565 seem to be the go to powders for the 25 PRC.

Don't have experience with the 25 but the prc case has more capacity than the 284 case. I run a straight 284 and a 7-6.5 prc for f class and the prc runs about 100 fps faster. That's not pushing either one as fast as I can but running them both in their happy place.
