25-06 Reloading

4350 and 100s in the 25-06 go together like politicians and other peoples money. At least they do in mine. I also like 110 accubonds and 115 partitions with IMR 4831.

H4831SC and 100gr Accubonds in wife's deer rifle. Steven 200.

It's a $100 pawnshop special. They had it for a couple years and couldn't sell it. So I made a offer and walked out of there with plans for a build.
One my favorite rifles cause it's simple, cheap and shoots good.
Had her shooting 10" steel plates at 600 yards with 90gr SMKs off a tripod.

100gr Accubonds have been doing good for the past 4 years now.

I’ve got three different loads for my Tikka 22” barrel. The first two may be a bit surprising because they use a fast burning powder.

1. Sierra varminter 87 grain, IMR 3031 47.0 grains, group average 0.55”, velocity 3332 fps, extreme spread 18 fps.

2. Nosler ballistic tip 85 grains, IMR 3031 44.0 grains, velocity 3262 fps. Group 0.59”

3. Berger 115 grain VLD, H4350 51.0 grains, group 0.45”, velocity 3089 FPS.

@UPThunderbolt
What is your COAL for the Berger 115? I want to play with those next, but I know the VLD likes to be close to the lands, so was concerned with the tikka mag COAL restrictions.

Thanks

IMR 4451 54.5gr 90 absolute hammer fed 210 3600 fps.
Rl 16 54gr 90 Sierra blitzking fed 210 3450fps.

As some follow-up, I tried a handful of new loads with varying success:

70 gr Sierra BlitzKing, 52.4 gr Varget, COL 3.025" - 3788 fps, 4-shot group just under 3/4 MOA.

100 gr Nosler BT w/ IMR 4350 - speed was good, need to load up a few more to verify accuracy is where I want it for a few of the standout loads.

110 gr Sierra TGK w/ Ramshot Grand - ludicrous speed (3136 - 3344 fps from min to max loads tested), accuracy was horrendous. Couldn't find good published data for 110's w/ Grand, so I interpolated Hodgdon data btw 100 and 117 gr bullets. Actual velocities were close to what I calculated. Disappointed that this one didn't group better.

I had to google Stevens 200 - for some reason it’s flown under my radar and I couldn’t even remember the name ever coming up before. What a steal for $100! A Savage 110 for $200 is a great deal, but $100 must be some kind of record. :-)

Good to see someone working with ramshot grand. I was just thinking if grabbing a few pounds for my 25-06 to play with some 115s. That’s insane speeds.

I saw the posted velocities and couldn't resist, despite finding virtually no data for 110's. I'll keep this forum up to date if I find a load that works with it. If you figure something out, please share.

Yep!!
Academy sports had a pricing issue and was buying 223, 308 and 7mm08 steven 200s for $179.99.

I have some 110gr Sierras loaded up with Viht N560 that i am waiting to get out and test. Nosler has a few different loads using Viht powders, and i have a good one for 117gr Sierras with it.

If you want to get some good hunting loads quickly, use 4350 and your choice of 100 grain bullets. You can use 4832, or rl22 with the 115's or the Sierra GK/PH. These loads will give you a good idea of how your rifle is going to shoot.

59.0 grains of Retumbo pushing a 110 Nosler Accubond 3,177 FPS via a 4 shot sub MOA group with a 9 ES/3.7 SD through a 26" factory TC Encore barrel.

Not much good now because it’s discontinued but I was pushing a 121 grain HH 3250 with IMR 8133.

Going to try Ramshot grand or Staball HD once my imr 8133 runs out.

My wife's Remington 700 MTN Rifle with the 22" barrel shot great using 120 gr. Partitions over 49.0 grs. of IMR4350. 3000 fps over the chronograph with that load. The 110 gr. Accubond also shot very well with that load and 49.5 grs of IMR 4350.
