Swaro ATC/STC vs 15x binos

I have my 12x NL Pures and then my ATX 85mm. The spotter comes out for a closer look.

The ATC/STC have grabbed my attention though as I'd be able to shed a bit of weight and not give up too much magnification.

My combo is NL 12’s and ATC’s I love it, can’t think of too many spots where I want my 82mm obj over the ATC

I’m slowly inching my way towards the STC…..my wife is not digging it. Lol

I got half of my glassing setup (15x56 & outdoorsman’s parts ) in hand. Need the tripod and the stc….

I would say the 15s and mini spotter are different tools with some overlap.

15s are hands down better for finding game, and you can still get a very good idea of frame size from a mile or even two away depending on the lighting and background.

STC gives you a significant bump in magnification that is mostly useful in good atmospheric conditions.

Hot/sunny/mirage or low light, it’s not adding a ton of useful information about a deer compared to the 15s.

If you have to pick one, pick 15s. Finding more deer will lead to more opportunities.

The only exception in my mind would be some kind of high country hunt where the deer are easy to spot and you’re not picking through brush and covering lots of broken country. In that case 10s or 12s and little spotter would get the nod for me.

Heads up for anyone interested, I’m looking to trade or potentially sell my like new, unused Kowa 55s spotter. I think I’m going to stick with a larger 80 ish spotter. Awesome spotter
