Nosler Ballistic Tip. .243 90 gr. 1 shot got a mature doe. I wanted to shoot again, but she was already down out of sight. .243 just works.

I have been shooting white-tails with a .243 for years. I always used Remington Cor-Lokt 100gr rounds. People always use to tell me that caliber is way to small. I have killed over 20 white-tails with the same gun. They either dropped in their tracks or run less than 30 yards. Great all around caliber!

Hopefully my boy will find out on Saturday with 95 grain CT ballistic tips. He can get touching groups at 100 yards with them.

I shot my first deer with 243 in 2019 - 300# muley. 100 gr Federal blue box. Limited penetration at 220 yds.

Dad shot a 100# whitetail 4 pt, front on at 120 yds - in thru heart, bullet in rear ham. 100 gr Nosler partition, 2950 fps.

I got to see the 243 work it's magic this year, my nephew got his own deer rifle the morning of the Michigan firearm opener. That eavning he put it to work approximately 125 yard shot with a Hornady American whitetail 100gr interlock, and down he went on the spot.

My 1st deer was also a 100 gr Federal Blue Box Special .243! Wow, Exit wound was the size of a tennis ball !!
Figures! I did a high shoulder shot on big muley - it made it thru shoulder and mighta broke thru the ribs but that was it - stunned him. Next shot was thru ribs and out paunch - bullet under skin on opposite side.

The blue box shells shoot lights out - very accurate and repeatable.

My dad has shot a .243 for 35 years now and many deer have fallen to that gun loaded with 85gr Sierra BTHPs. 90% drop on the spot and the rest don’t make it 50yds! I’ve used various other .243 loads and they nearly all work wonders. The only bullet I haven’t had good luck with was the Nosler E-tip.

Shot my first rifle deer with a Remington 788 in 243 with a Hornady 100 grain round nose. He was trotting across a logging road in Mississippi when I hit him. Went a total of 5’.
It’s a round that’s hard on deer. Still have a 742 chambered for it.

I still use my 788 in 243 ( bought it used with money from my job as a box boy) with 95-100 NBTs or 100 Core Lokts. I’ve strayed a few times to a 308, a 30-06, and other 243s over 37 years but keep going back to my first love for deer and antelope.
