22ARC or 6ARC for coyotes under 500 yards?

As title states, thinking about switching the 223 AR15 to one of the above.

Would shoot the factory Hornady ELD-X or ELD- VT ammo.

Which one would be the most accurate? Which one would be more effective on coyotes under 500 yards.

Realistically all shots will be within 200 yards.

I’m torn between the two. Thanks in advance.

I would do the 22. For thermal hunting I want higher velocity/flatter trajectory and the 22 has the edge.

At 200 yards you have a ~4” target you are trying to hit and you are probably shooting 2moa+ at that distance. So whichever gun is flatter I would expect more hits with.

Right on! Hopefully people chime in. Realistically, I think both will do what I want but I want people to make my decision for me because I’m torn 50/50.

Well, since you are torn 50/50, do what I did, one of each lol! Mine are bolt guns, and only the 6 seen action so far with the wife hammering a buck with it yesterday morning. After deer rifle season and thanksgiving pass by, I’ll get the 22 out on some coyote hunting. I’ll tell you one thing, they both hit a steel gong with authority. Both should be fun calling coyotes this winter.

I agree with this. More faster = more better when it comes to night hunting. For whatever reason I struggle to judge distance very well with thermal so a flatter round keeps me from having to holdover as much.

22 arc. Here are my reasons. 22 is faster, therefore flatter, a huge plus in night hunting. Also a 22 bullet of a given weight, compared to a 6mm of the same weight, will have a higher bc & fly better than its 6mm counterpart.

Only argument I can make for the 6arc is that it has more offerings in the heavier bullets if you wanted to point it at deer & hogs.

In the end, id take the more accurate one, but since your building... idk... lol

22 for the simple fact of less recoil which allows you to watch your impact. Watching my shot hit has made me a much better shooter. The 6’s do not recoil much at all, especially when suppressed but less is better in my opinion. There will be no killing difference between the two as they are both more than adequate for the job with the ranges you outlined.
