Both will get the job done for sure. The 215 will have a 3-5" neck before upset/fragment. The 225 will work better at lower velocities if you can see far enough to make use of it.

If you’re shooting both of them very well… I would maybe use cost, availability, etc. as your deciding factor. Elk won’t like getting hit with either of them.

That said, we shoot 215s and 230s in our 30cals.

I have almost 1 k of both. I stocked up recently.

I know that both kill just wondering what everyones thoughts were.

I too was just in the same dilemma with my 30 Sherman. It shot both 215's and 225's well, but ultimately decided on the 215's with its proven track record. I don't think you can go wrong with either one though.

1K of both and they both shoot good? That’s a good problem to have man.

I am a 215 fan and have an embarrassing amount of them in the reloading room. We have shot numerous bulls with them and they’ve all performed well. But in all fairness. I don’t have experience with the 225.

The 225 has worked VERY well for me.

I'd probably sell the 215's for top dollar and buy more 225's for practice or funding something else.

ELDM is a match TARGET bullet by design. I could be wrong but i don't believe they were ever meant for use on game.
Same for the berger.

Funny enough, they both make fantastic hunting bullets. The target world has helped with a lot of innovations for hunters.

That is why they work so well…

The 225 I’d say is a bit more explosive than the 215, but out to 400yds explosive or not it’s going to be bad medicine even if you hit a shoulder bone. I’d be confident taking any shot with either of them.

Makes a lot of sense.
