.223ai or wylde?

Trying not to clog up the group buy thread. I need a .223 barrel for blinking factory ammo. My goal was to not have to reload and just put a bunch of rounds downrange in a bolt action. Any pro's to getting a
223ai vs a Wylde or standard .223?

I think you don’t plan to reload for it 223ai would be useless, wylde or standard 223 would be likley best choice for bulk shooting factory ammo.

I know I was planning on a Wylde chamber for my next 223 barrel so I can throw any cheap 5.56 ammo at it if I choose.

My understanding is people generally see zero difference in shooting .223 in AI'd chambers vs factory ammo. Only difference is you're ejecting fire-formed AI brass.

Yeah, I have a 22CM that I reload for. I really see no reason to reload a .223.

I have a 223 Wylde in an AR. Shoots great. Rang steel at 600 yards consistently. Never tried farther. Great round. Pdogs hate it.

If you did the Ackley, you could sell the brass to recoup some of the money from the factory fodder, should be worth more than plain 223 brass, unless you buy cheap shit to begin with.

Otherwise, do the Wylde, as the 223 Rem chamber has a short freebore, which might not play well with some ammo.

223ai is hands down my favorite cartridge. That being said, in your case I wouldn't do it.

Run several ARs with Wylde chambers and my Remy bolt gun in .223 with thousands of various plinking rounds through it; zero issues.

I can personally vouch for the PBB 223 wylde that LS sells.
Here’s my 18” barrel from him.
It made load dev with the 80gr eldm pretty simple.

I'll roll with the AI, since that seems like the one everyone wants. I've never thought about selling my brass, but why not. If anyone wants a 16" that would be my most desired over the 18".
