Have a zermatt short action and a bsf 20” carbon barrel for my son to learn on and to shoot some hogs and coyotes at night. And a few deer also.

Want to try the 62 grain eldvt for hogs and coyotes but couple videos on YouTube did not have promising results. The barrel is a 7 twist and mag length is 2.5. Has anyone else tried these in a bolt gun chamberd in 223 with good luck and groupings

Thanks

A 1:7” twist is probably going to work better with 77- or 88-grain bullets.

I have shot a boat load of them in 223, they shot okay, nothing super accurate but I was able to keep them right at an moa.

18” 223 has them going 3000fps. I’m not sure what they will do for anything bigger but they are a great prairie dog bullet

I’m perfectly fine with 1 moa….have some 77tmk that will be the main food source for this rifle…just trying to pick up some more speed for night hunting

They should do that. They have a similar shape to a 75eld and will need to be loaded long. Mine shoot well right up next to the rifling and I’m using benchmark as a powder, though I don’t remember how much; something around 24gn

Check out tink Nas3 77TMK. Can get 2900fps. The best for speed and killing I have found in 223.

Eld-vt just too long for 223 imo. Now 22 creedmoor it is THE predator round at 3400.
