It’s a good choice. I’ve found/seen/heard that the 80 ELDX can be a picky little bastard both in hand loads and factory loads. I’ve had two lots from hornady shoot 1MOA or slightly better and I’ve had another lot recently shoot 1.5MOA or slightly worse. Just want to be transparent there.
Never had any accuracy issues with 77 TMK or 88 ELDM yet. Both are with much less use than 80 ELDX though.

I tested 4895 with 80 eld ms in the weekend terrible groups but averaged 2750 after dropping a grain out from my 75 eld load. Definitely could have likely upped the pressure a bit but I'm loading at 2.44"N150 is very good for giving velocity for heavies as well. Another guy with standard chamber was pushing 80 ELD-M @ 2750 out of an 18” barrel. No pressure signs and room in the case.
Just dumb luck, not much of a write up to be written really. Heard some howls while hiking in to check out a new deer spot, got setup and after a few howls they popped up and we were able to capitalize on a few.One is crazy hard to get, three is flat out awesome. Good work, congrats, and a huge thank you! Call them in?
Edit: you just need to make a separate post with a write up of your hunt!
I ran my 223 out to 955 yards today in the mountains with 25g of N150 and 80 ELD-M’s. They were absolutely hammering. 2750 from an 18” Tikka barrel. Cases look great. Seated at 2.340 OAL in Waters Mags, appx .0150 off the lands.N150 is very good for giving velocity for heavies as well. That's awesome. What does your velocity look like at 955yds? Factory .223 chamber, correct?I ran my 223 out to 955 yards today in the mountains with 25g of N150 and 80 ELD-M’s. Would be down to 1350 fps at that DA. First round impact on a 2ft rock. Yeah it’s the factory throat on it. I thought about having it reamed out, but I don’t think there’s any need to do so.That's awesome. What does your velocity look like at 955yds? Factory .223 chamber, correct?
Shit that throats short. I found the lands for 80 eld ms are 2.44 in my rifle. How do they group in yours mine hates them atleast with 4895? I only just worked up this load and then took it out to the mountains and ran it out to distance. The only 100 yard “group” was when I was finding pressure and sent 3 rounds per charge weight. 24.5 and 25.0 of N150 both shot 1/2”.Shit that throats short. Fair that's what I did with my 75 eld load. Checked it wasn't terrible shot 30 rounds for a good zero saw the group was a bit under 2 inchs then took it to a small little hunters shoot which was mostly positional out to 700m then took it out to 1100m on the big range after. Blew my mind that after figuring the wind on the 800 yard gong made forst round hits at every other gong out to 1100m holding about a 2.5mils for wind. All without a big magnum or a "sub moa" load. Your very lucky to be able to just go shoot public land. It's not legal here unless your shooting at an animal. Luckily a few good ranges about.I only just worked up this load and then took it out to the mountains and ran it out to distance. I also had a 12” steel plate out at 750 and hammered it from different shooting positions I think 6 out of 8 times with a bit of wind.
