Thought these photos would be interesting for comparison purposes. Friend shot a deer at 290 yards with a 168gr ttsx out of a 308. This is his first shot on the heart, he has to shoot it again after it got up and ran. It looked like the bullet did not expand when he cut open the heart.
Ancedotal evidence, but bullet construction seems to trump fr lbs of energy.

That looks like a doe I shot at 168 yards witha 135gr A-Tip out of my 6.5 Creedmoor. Broke her opposite leg and she went 100 yards, no blood trail at all. Luckily she was in a wheat field. Switched back to the 130 gr Norma Golden Target and my next 4 wnt less than 50 yards between the 4. Massive blood trails and large exits. I will be shooting my 223 Tikka Varmint with some 77gr TMK next season. The IMI 77gr SMK that I have shot coyotes with out of my 18" AR leave big holes. My Varmint shoots the 75gr ELDM really well, but I just bang steel with them so far.

The A-Tips don't open up fast enough for me at Creedmoor speeds.

Yes, that is the patented windamacator otherwise known as the hooshkadoo. Keep it quiet....I don't want to start a fad.
And thats a limbsaver on the tikka factory stock.

Hello, I am a new member from AR. I saw a link for this thread on the fire, I have been a member of LRH and other forums for years, been shooting and hunting for a long time but never too late to learn. I have shot some of these but not on game. I would have suspected that they would be a bomb and not offer sufficient penetration. Real results here indicate otherwise.
With this info, I don't see why this bullet couldn't be used as a do it all bullet, it appears you have plenty of expansion for Varmints too and it is a good target bullet. One load for my 5.56's would be nice.
Granted the bullets cost more than most Varmint bullets but with the cheap "if you already have it" brass and modest powder charge I don't mind a few more cents per bullet.
Always there are some who would offer their "facts" based on no personal experience but I appreciate the experience based info & pics, after all, if we can't glean info from actual experience that is shared on these forums then why read them.
