.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

For .223?? No way. I really do need to call him again then. I’m at 3 years I think. I sent them back fall of 2021.

My MT adventure started with Jeff. He was a master at stringing me along. Jeff left/got fired and another dude (Nick, maybe) took over. He didn’t last long. A woman took his place and when I got an email that the new mags were available I called and asked what the heck, I’ve been waiting for years.

Long story short, I should have 5 magazines waiting for me when I get home tomorrow.

How much have you used these and how reliable are they? Can’t be worse than my Mountain tactical mag (speaking of it’s been another 6 months ish… time to call again 🤦‍♂️)
I have one on the way to test.

For $40, it’s worth the money to find out personally. FWIW I saw some pretty good reviews in regards in the 24hourcampfire thread.

I sent him an email this past Sunday, paid him, and my kit was in the mail Monday morning.

If they work and are reliable, it’s a pretty damn good value. Buy factory mag for $40 or so, buy his kit for $40, and you’re into a long OAL mag for $80. Cheap money compared to the waters mags.

I've been using 3 of the Ascension Industry mags for a little while now and they've been great. Quick/easy swap. I've put a fair number of rounds through them and haven't had any issues with them. Did a lot of feed/function with dummy rounds and they've been great. All of that was done using Tikka bottom plastic.

However....

Last week I received a KRG Echo and was planning to use it on a .223. For some reason the Asc Ind mags can slide down in the rear (near trigger guard) with the Echo causing the bolt to ride over the top of the case head. Tikka mags won't slide down with the Echo. I switched back and forth with Tikka bottom plastic and it only occurs with the Echo. I've not spent much time troubleshooting, it's hunting/ending football/starting basketball season and time is tight...

I need to contact Adam from Asc Ind and give him a heads up. I'm not running down his product at all, I really like them. There's something different enough that the Echo has an issue with them vs other stocks with Tikka bottom plastic.

Dry cycling feeds fine. Will see about live soon enough.

73 ELDM vs 77 TMK. Bought a RSS along with all the dies, specific tools and components to start loading the 77tmk's but in the meantime I've been shooting the factory 73 elm's with nothing but great results with an antelope and an elk. Is there an advantage to shooting the tmk over the eldm?
I'm committed to the tmk now that I have 1000 bullets but dang, that eldm is impressive.

From everything I’ve read, the 77TMK will be more impressive. If all goes as planned, I’ll be getting personal experience in a couple weeks

@Pharmseller,
Please let us know how those new MT mags function.

Received 5, 2 are my brother’s, so I tested 3. A full magazine (4) each, one time only.

Two fed flawlessly, but the third did not pick up the second round, despite working the bolt multiple times. I removed the magazine, pushed down on the top round a few times, reinserted, and the next 3 fed without issue.

I reloaded the magazine and tried again, all 4 rounds fed without a problem.

The magazine was properly inserted each time, so the malfunction was not due to an improperly inserted magazine.

I marked the follower on the suspect magazine for further testing.

Hey guys, has the quality of the aac 77tmk improved or is it still so so? I have seen some people say that the quality is horrible and I'd rather stick to 73 eld-m if that is true. Also, has anyone ever tried the pmc 77 otm's?

My first batch of TMKs was pretty bad. Multiple FTFs and case failures. Second batch hasn't been bad. SDs in the low 20s out of a gas gun. Factory eldms are around 10-15 for comparison. I ran around 100 otms they ran hot but reliable close to IMI 77gr numbers. I plan on grouping this batch of tmks and keeping my shoots 200 and under for deer this season.

It is not a large sample size but this string had 24fps standard deviation in the mix. The overall speed is the same as what i saw out of the Black Hills ammunition. The difference is the Black Hills ammunition (for me) was a standard deviation of only 11fps!

Either way, I think you would be well less than minute of vitals at effective velocity ranges.

I added the larger sample size of the Black Hills string for reference. 1000013882.jpg

In my Tikka it’s about 70 fps slower than Black Hills and 20-shot groups are maybe a 1/4-1/2” larger. It’s also half the cost. The differences in accuracy and speed don’t amount to a hill of beans for field shooting and hunting. It prints center but about 0.1 mil low at 100 compared to my BH zero. Besides, you can find it and you can’t find the BH. Buy it, shoot it, rejoice, repeat.

Ok, thanks. Now would you guys rather hunt Michigan deer with factory 73 eld-m or AAC 77tmk?
