Converting my Rokslide trainer to a CTR so I can just use aics mags. Just to simplify the tikka 223 magazine issues.
Are there any aics pattern mags to avoid? Was thinking about getting a few of the plastic mdt's.

I don't think needing a super long coal length mag will be an issue for me. Mostly shooting factory ammo and handloading 77 tmks.

I have been using the plastic MDTs and haven’t had any consistent issues.

The accurate mags have been the smoothest feeding for me but they are heavier and more expensive than the mdt poly mags. The poly mags work but they take a little more force when running the bolt is all.

-The Poly MDT were the pickiest magazines I had both feeding and fitting the gun. They were very tight in my magwell of 2 difference chassis.
-Metal MDT and Accurate mags are my favorite for everything other than cost. I sometimes have a hiccup with them but I think it’s user induced while running the bolt. I like that the accurate mags you can buy a rebuild kit for the plastic.
-Magpul 223 AICS mags are my favorite for cost and performance. They feed 100%, they seem to sit a bit higher in the gun. Their COAL allowance kinda sucks though.

My Accurate mags are my favorite and perform flawlessly I also have a couple MDT metal mags, they work well after the first round, but the first round always seems to want to stovepipe. I haven’t taken the time to study the cause/effect of it (I just switched to the Accurate mags), but it seems as though too much spring pressure is a likely cause.

Does anyone have experience with Waters aics mags or the gen 2 plastic MDT 223 mags?

My plastic mdt mags have been semi reliable at best for the first 3-4 rounds- which doesn’t inspire confidence.
