.223 75gr eldm varget

Guess they were sold out, my order was canceled. Anyone try 80 gr smk out of a 223?

75 bthp by Hornady are a good affordable bullet to learn with.

75 eldm are a good choice if you have already figured out longer magazine length. The shortest you can load these is ~2.38”.

73 eldm are similar to above but designed to work at 2.26”.

Varget will likely be suitable for your setup, but like I said may or may not be a bit slow.

223 is a great cartridge to learn on.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, first trip was a success. Found a promising load: 80 gr smk, 24.3 gr varget, 8.2 sd, 23 es, about .55” 10 shots, .020” off lands

How compressed is that load
Honestly don’t remember, but I’m sure it was a little crunchy. I’m currently shooting 24.8gr under the 80gr vld’s with starline brass and they crunch down a little bit, but nothing worth worrying about.
