Okay gotcha. I put 3000 FPS for both.

Really world data (because I have both of those cartridges). There is no 100gr. 6mm bullet with a .6 G1 by the way.

Put in a 105 hybrid at 3320fps and a 250 A-tip at 2930FPS
The 100gr badlands SBD-2 that I run in my 6PRC runs 3410 from a 24" barrel and has a .6G1. That's why I used that. 56gr RL26 at 3.100 coal. Both those things are not available anymore, so yes, eventually I'll have to use something that doesn't work as well. Admittedly I'd never use that bullet on an elk/moose at all. But that's due to the bullet construction and not the fact that it's 6mm. Or it's weight.

I don't have or have much ever looked at a 300nmi so I went to the internet for what people were saying they got with that bullet.

Well I stand corrected then for sure! My apologies! How do those things kill?

As well as a barnes just with much higher BC's. Which means take shoulder shots and avoid the lungs.
Definitely! Have you actually trued/tested that BC at 1000 yards? It just seems absurdly high lol. I’m leery. I’ve shot a lot of mono’s and not one has lived up to its stated BC at 1000 yards

do not take this as an insult but both the 338 lapua and 50 bmg are marginal for elk. Real elk rifles start at 505 Gibbs, the perfect elk rifle is the 577 tyrannasour. Don’t shoot wimpy rifles sir.
You sir are correct, I certainly don't want to lose or forfeit my "man card"...I will educate myself on the cartridges you've suggested

Hahaha genuinely curious how many elk you’ve killed. Being a WY resident and all. Should be piles of them no? You definitely have a strongly formed opinion and I can only assume it’s from extensive hunting and killing. Give us the details.

I know next to nothing about hunting. I'm here to learn. Which I am doing. I appreciate all the information provided.

I apologize if I have misrepresented myself as an accomplished hunter or rifle assembler. I am not. I am about to take hunter safety for the first time all of this information is helpful.

Not sure if you’re aware but you can hunt wilderness areas in Wyoming as a resident without a guide. Might help you! I’ll be hunting them next year as a nonresident though. Fines are less than a tank of gas. No brainer!!!

I wont hunt elk under 30 cal personal choice. Tried it let 22 creed do its thing. Not impressed
If you don't mind, can you expand on your IG post about the recent elk that took 4x perfectly placed 30cal A-tips to the chest from one of your guns? In your opinion, why did it take 4x perfect chest shots from your ideal combo to down an elk?

This is not an attack, just genuine curiousity given your stance on the subject. Thanks for partaking in the discussion.

I have not. That's beyond the range I'm actually going to shoot at an animal with them. Through the 500y I've shot them, if it's not on, it's within the noise and cone this rifle shoots.
The purpose of this gun actually isn't a real long range gun. It's that it's got a 450y mpbr and shoots really soft. I can let about anyone borrow it when they're with me and within(well within) that range it's point and shoot. Or shooting small things where ranging isn't possible.

Okay gotcha. I’ve just never many anyone that’s truly accomplished in anything speak with such authority and try to belittle other peoples experiences and opinions. There’s always a first though 👍🏼

That bull was dead. I dont have anyone stop shooting until they hit ground. Especially with 7 minutes of daylight left.just shows how tough some are then others too. That bull could have gone bad the other bull dropped one shot same distance same heard. That bulls internals was destroyed and the fact a guy never shot 700 yards was able to stack 4 in boiler room with a big bad magnum off a terrible position he was in. Just shows it can be done. I think smaller gun wouldn’t of made tbat scenario any better. Bullet performance was excellent.@SouthPaw
