22 Creedmore vs 22-250

I just decided to go 8 twist Tikka 223 instead of a 8 twist 22-250 due to better brass availability for now. I’ll probably wind up doing an entire 22 creedmore build on a bighorn origin action or something in the future also.

I picked up the 8t 22-250 last fall and its lights out with the 85.5 Berger at 3100fps and the 80eldm at 3200. Both will shoot well under .75 out to 700 and I’ve shot the 85 to 1000+ well. I was gonna do a .22 cm as well because of brass availability but I’ve had decent luck with the nosler and my plan now is to buy up a couple of these take off barrels and run this thing now that I have good loads figured out. Just ordered the ppu brass which I haven’t tried in the past. Hoping lapua starts making 22-250 again

I’ve seen some chatter on this before, but real-world velocity differences with 77gr TMKs depend a lot on specifics like powder, primer, and barrel. From what I’ve gathered, folks running same-length barrels (say, 16” or 20”) usually see pretty close numbers—maybe 50-100 fps difference at most, with one edging out if it’s got a tighter chamber or better gas system. Anyone got hard data from a chrono comparing these two setups side by side? Curious myself!
Running a tikka 22-250 18” and a tikka 22 creed (22-250 reamed out) 18” with h4350 and 77 TMK there was 75-100fps difference

On Lapua 22-250 - You can find it now in a few places. Precision reloading is one of them.

Yep, Midwayusa had Lapua 22-250 brass as of last week as well. I was a bit surprised, as my understanding when I had spoken with Bruno cs months ago, they told me "when one gets it we'll all get it." Said something about all the us bound brass being stuck in the supply chain, in a container somewhere.

lol yeah because we were talking about it I looked and saw it’s in stock, not sure when that happened. I ordered 200, I fully intend to keep buying peoples tikka take offs and keep running the 22-250, with the loads listed above I don’t see a tangible gain that justifies buy all New dies and I have a bunch of other brass as well

I snagged the 200 on midway and have another 200 on order through my local smith so if that comes in I’ll be set for a few barrels

Well I just called Troy at dst and he has it. With quality brass around again, I wouldn’t waste my time on 22cm considering I’m sub $1000 into my tikka and the gains on atcm are marginal. Unless you really want a hot rod. Of the 5 250s I’ve owned ,and three I currently have, this is by far my favorite. these tikkas just flat-out shoot. With the Berger load I’m 2 for 2 on 600 cold bore going to 700 this week

The 77 gr. TMK might be a little soft at close ranges wouldn't it? Seems the preferred velocity range posted is between 2600 fps and 1800 fps.

My wife shot a deer with her 22CM and 77 TMK at sub 130 yards last year. Velocity at the muzzle was 3188fps. The bullet fragged pretty good but it wasn’t too much imo.

That the entrance side?

A 77tmk at 3k plus at closer range is absolutely devastating. Penetration was fine on deer they just made a mess.

IMO too much for deer, I’d rather use the 223.
