After spending a few days looking at the 650+ page thread on here of 77 tmk killing things... I got to thinking.... Sure, i can do that with my 18" daniel defense, it hammers with 77's.... But why stop there.

Looking at building another gasser in either 22 or 6.5g. Seems the 22 can run 80's about the same speed as I can push a 107 tmk in the 6.5G.

Does it make more sense to go with the G or 22 arc?

Will be a truck gun and for myself and my kids to shoot deer with out to 300 yards.

grendel should do better in an SBR than the 22 arc due to better a slightly larger base to push against, but inside 300 yards shouldnt matter a ton. if youre going 16 in. or longer id go 22 arc. shot everything from rock chuck to whitetail with mine, its done great

Im leaning 18"... maybe 20 but running a can and trying to stay short as possible with good velocity still. 18" seems to be the sweet spot for all these smaller calibers.

My next delimma is barrel. Ive been looking at grendel hunter and rainier arms ultra match in the 350-380 range.. or step it up to a proof for $525

ive had really good luck with proof bolt action barrels, never used one of their ar barrels. id imagine theyre solid though

I just read that they had issues with their 22 arc barrels. Excessive gas port erosion and something with the barrel extensions so they pulled them and wont be back until next year.

Thats a bummer!!
